Understanding your agreement with Essence Of Love is important. Here, we outline the full terms and conditions that apply to all our celebrant services, ensuring a smooth and transparent process from booking to ceremony.

Essence of Love – Ceremony Booking Terms & Conditions

  1. Definitions
  • Client — the person(s) booking the ceremony.
  • Celebrant — Essence of Love (David Vickers).
  • Ceremony — any wedding, vow renewal, commitment ceremony, naming ceremony, or life celebration delivered by the Celebrant.
  1. Booking & Payment
  • A non‑refundable booking fee of £75 is required to secure your ceremony date.
  • Your date is not confirmed until the booking fee has been received.
  • The remaining balance is due 60 days before the ceremony.
  • Payments may be made via bank transfer or other agreed method.

  • Changes to Bookings

    If you wish to amend or cancel your booking, you must notify us as soon as possible via:

  1. Services Provided
  • A fully bespoke ceremony script created in collaboration with the Client.
  • Unlimited contact via email or message throughout the planning process, subject to the type of ceremony booked.
  • One ceremony rehearsal, if requested, subject to availability and the type of ceremony booked.
  • Delivery of the ceremony on the agreed date, time, and location.
  • A keepsake copy of your ceremony script (digital or printed).
  1. Client Responsibilities
  • Provide accurate information required for the ceremony.
  • Ensure all legal marriage requirements (if applicable) are completed separately with a registrar — celebrant ceremonies are non‑legal.
  • Confirm venue access, timings, and any special requirements.
  • Inform the Celebrant of any changes as soon as possible.
  1. Changes to Ceremony Details
  • Minor changes (wording, readings, vows) may be made up to 14 days before the ceremony.
  • Changes to date, time, or location are subject to availability and may incur additional costs.
  1. Cancellation Policy
  • The £75 booking fee is non‑refundable under all circumstances.
  • If the Client cancels:
    • More than 60 days before the ceremony: refund of any balance paid (minus booking fee).
    • 30–60 days before the ceremony: 50% of the full ceremony fee is payable.
    • Less than 30 days before the ceremony: 100% of the full ceremony fee is payable.
  • If the Celebrant must cancel due to illness, emergency, or circumstances beyond control:
    • A full refund of all fees paid (including booking fee) will be issued.
    • The Celebrant will make reasonable efforts to help source a suitable replacement celebrant.

    • Events Beyond Reasonable Control (Force Majeure)

      Essence Of Love shall not be held liable for cancellation or failure to deliver services due to circumstances beyond reasonable control. These may include, but are not limited to:

      • Extreme weather conditions
      • Government restrictions
      • War, terrorism, or civil unrest
      • Strikes
      • Epidemics or pandemics
      • Other unforeseen “acts of God”

      In such circumstances, refunds will not be guaranteed, and the standard cancellation terms will not apply.

      However, where possible, we will make every reasonable effort to offer alternative

  1. Postponements
  • One date change may be made free of charge if the Celebrant is available.
  • Additional changes may incur a £50 administration fee.
  • If the new date is unavailable, this will be treated as a cancellation by the Client.
  1. Travel & Additional Costs
  • Travel within 20 miles of LE12 6JW is included.
  • Additional mileage is charged at 45p per mile, calculated one‑way only.
  • Parking, accommodation (if required), or venue‑specific fees must be covered by the Client.
  1. Conduct & Safety
  • The Celebrant reserves the right to withdraw services if behaviour at the ceremony is abusive, unsafe, or prevents the ceremony from being delivered.
  • No refund will be issued in such circumstances.
  1. Use of Photos & Media
  • With consent, the Celebrant may use non‑sensitive ceremony photos for marketing or social media.
  • Clients may withdraw consent at any time.
  1. Liability
  • The Celebrant is not liable for delays or disruptions caused by weather, traffic, venue issues, or third‑party suppliers.
  • The Celebrant holds full public liability insurance.
